Event Details

The conference is a one day event with a focus on walking the walk with others in our lives.  As women, we need people who can speak into our lives and safely bring God into the places of our hearts that are in need of His love and healing.  We are called to walk the walk – together.  And together in humility and discipline we are to give ourselves to intentional acts of love and ensuring we remain unified.  Together we will encourage each other to stay in the walk.

The lunch, giveaways and discounts alone will more than cover you cost to attend!

The day will start with morning worship from Beyond the Flood and special guests.  A large group session follows worship with speaker Kristine Nelson, Sarah Moorman, Janae Cardell and Amber Metz(Payne). After the large group session, there will be 5 Workshops (see below) for you to choose to attend.  Then we will enjoy lunch together (part of the ticket price) and an afternoon large group session with speaker Kristine Nelson, founder of Speakin2 Ministries.

Main Floor Speaker Information

Kristine Nelson:  Kristine Nelson is the Director of Adult Ministries at Monocacy Valley Church in Frederick, Maryland.  She has been leading Adult Ministries at Monocacy Valley Church for 5 years and is the Founder  and Director of Speakin2 Ministry.  She has spoken at women's retreats and conferences, Sunday morning church services, and lead bible studies.  Her heart is for women's discipleship and mentoring young women to become the leader's for the next generation.

Janae Cardell:  Janae Cardel has taught numerous Bible Studies and has spoken at a regional singles retreat. She has also spoken at several Christian singles meetings and led a single adult Sunday morning class for three years at her church.  Janae has a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education and a Master's Degree in Teaching and Curriculum. She taught in a bricks and mortar public school for 10 years and is currently teaching at a cyber-charter school in Mechanicsburg , Pennsylvania where she has spoken at several national conferences.

Amber Payne(Metz):  Amber Metz is the founder of Breathtaking Ministries and is writer of the book Breathtaking which is her personal testimony.  Her passion is to train the Body of Christ in such a way that they are equipped to articulate, through the use of Scripture, the concept of God's sovereignty and goodness even amidst human suffering; the term we've coined for this is a 'proper theology of suffering'.

Five breakout sessions will be available at the conference.
Read about all 5 breakout sessions and select 1 when you register:

"Life gets tough...Bring a friend"
Laurey Richmond and Janet Smyers
This workshop will focus on how friendships can make the difference between "suffering alone, reacting and being frustrated," and "suffering with someone who loves you, encourages you, and helps you navigate and learn from the situation."

"Walking like Jesus in the Work Place"
Kristine Nelson
Has the workplace been a difficult place to Walk the Walk like Jesus did?  Has anyone else struggled with difficult people and wondered "how do I deal with this like Jesus did?"  In this workshop we will learn from Jesus through honest stories of struggle and victory as we look to scripture for guidance and explore how Jesus might respond in these situations.

"Finding Freedom in Forgiveness:  Giving Our Hearts Wings"
Kathleen Jefferson
Forgiveness is a powerful gift that we sisters can give ourselves not just for the Valentine's Day, but for a lifetime.  Come hear one woman's journey to freedom through forgiveness, and then create a plan for your own.

"Dinner with the King"
Cristal Saxon
How to have intimacy with God.  Let's come together and get persona; and enjoy God's presence.  Come and learn how to come close to God and what this means to each of us.

"Submission: It's Not What You Think"
Amber Payne (Metz)
When most women hear the word "submission" in relation to their relationship with their husband, they cringe.  This workshop challenges women to embrace submitting first to their heavenly Father and then to their husbands.  Submission is not always an easy road, but when properly understood, can be seen as a privilege and unique, divine responsibility we have to the Father.

BAD WEATHER UPDATE: Conference Postponement

The National Weather Service and NOAA have collaboratively agreed that Old Man Winter is not intending to shift his late-in-the-game plans to blanket our area (again) in a very thick quilt of snow this coming weekend. Local Meteorologists have confirmed that his “handiwork” is expected to be quite significant, and will be in play from Friday, February 5 through Saturday, February 6, 2010.

Therefore, to mitigate any travel-related risks to our participants and volunteers in potentially dangerous weather, the Leadership Team of the Intentional Sisterhood Conference has decided to formally postpone our “Walk the Walk” Conference event scheduled for this Saturday, 2/6 until Saturday, 2/27.  If for some reason you cannot join us on the rescheduled date, tickets are transferable to another sister friend.  If you decide to transfer your registration, please contact us at the email address intentionalsisterhood@yahoo.com so we can modify the registration for your guest.

The IS Team has been diligent in prayer with thoughtful consideration for the postponement of the event - and this was a difficult decision for us to make as we worked many hours to coordinate a new date for the event speakers, musicians and artists.

In the meantime, we are waiting out the storm to be proactive; waiting to get together with great anticipation; and waiting on the Lord for an event that will TRULY be more heaven-sent than the upcoming snow! As Psalm 27 says, ”Wait on the Lord: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the Lord.”

Until February 27, Sisters, we will wait together, and try to stay warm! For more information, go to: www.intentionalsisterhood.com or www.speakin2.com.

Registration will continue to be open until February 24, 2010 for anyone who would like to attend.

Tuesday, February 2, 2010
To all participants and volunteers for the Intentional Sisterhood Conference this Saturday, 2/6/10:

As you may know, the National Weather Service is currently indicating that we may experience some inclement weather this coming weekend. We wanted you to be aware that we are proactively tracking it! In fact, our Leadership Team will be working behind the scenes over the next few days to determine:
1) if we will be going ahead as planned on 2/6, or
2) if we will be rescheduling the day's events for an upcoming weekend in the very near future.

It is our first priority that we consider everyone's safety and that we mitigate any potential risks involved in foul weather-related travel and transport around our "Walk the Walk" Conference!

NEXT STEPS: We will be actively keeping you posted by keeping our website posted with up-to-date information concerning the Conference event. Please go to www.intentionalsisterhood.com to get the latest information blast. We will also be sending a broadcast e-mail once the final decision is made. We hope you will join us in praying that this storm will re-route itself or that we will simply get a cleansing rain shower so that the festivities for Saturday will go as planned. Until then, stay warm, Sisters!
